Atiba Nedd was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago. As a teen he went to a small high school in Boston, which led him to Boston College. There he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. For the past 8 years he has mainly worked work with urban youth. He has been with the Mystic Learning Center as the Adult Advisor for the past two years. In this role he supervises both the Pre-Teen Choice Club and the Teen Choice Club. He is launching a new soccer program and coordinates the summer basketball program. |

Florence Bergmann, Executive Director, has been directing Mystic Learning Center programs since June of 1978. She graduated from Boston State College in 1978 and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy and Sociology. She is responsible for the entire operation of the Mystic Learning Center agency. Florence has received numerous awards over the years for her service to low-income children, youth and families. She was born in Somerville, raised in the Mystic Community and she graduated from Somerville High School. She is well-known and respected in the community. |

Heidi Marie-Peterson is a group leader that has been working at the Mystic Learning Center since September 2006. Heidi coaches the team sports for the MLC and enjoys being active, encouraging team building, and teaching youth to respect themselves and each other. Heidi graduated from Lesley University in Cambridge with a Bachelors of Science in Child Studies/Outdoor Health and Recreation and a minor in Environmental Studies. Heidi is passionate about working with youth and has 10 years of experience. Heidi currently resides in Somerville, but was raised in Bar Harbor, Maine. |

Maureen Devlin (Program Coordinator, Instructor) has been with the Mystic Learning Center’s LAUNCH! G.E.D. Program since September of 2005. Maureen has been teaching children, teens, and adults for the past six years and received her Master’s in Education from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 2003. She is responsible for teaching all subjects of the G.E.D. certification exam to the students in the LAUNCH! Program as well as coordinating the program’s day to day administrative functions. Linda Kelley has worked with youth for the past 26 years. She holds a Masters of Education in Counseling Psychology from Cambridge College and is certified in conflict resolution. Linda is married, has three children and is a resident of Medford. Linda’s work experience includes running DSS residential programs for at risk youth. She worked at Somerville High School and Medford High School providing youth with training in conflict resolution, and she started the mediation program at Malden High School. Linda has also worked at the Mystic Learning Center in Somerville for the past 11 years providing consultation, family support and individual work with children at the center. She has also worked for Somerville Mental Health providing staff training, consultation and individual therapy with youth. She worked with the Malden YMCA for 12 years providing consultation, running a variety of programs including working in many of our local schools, running groups and working within the local community recreation centers. Linda is also currently the after school director for Partnership for Community Schools in Malden. |

Lyn Voyda, Development Consultant, is a graduate of Wheaton College and Boston University, and has over 20 years experience in proposal development, prospect research, and grant writing. She has held senior staff positions at The Women’s Educational and Industrial Union, The Amelia Peabody House, and Casa Esperanza, Inc. As an independent consultant, she has worked with the Mystic Learning Center since January 2004, and is responsible for writing grants to private foundations, corporations, and government agencies for both program and operating support. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and serves as Co-Chair of the Somerville Non-Profit Development Network. Lyn is a long-time Somerville resident and is active in many community activities. |
